About The Position

The Study at University of Chicago is currently seeking a Restaurant Supervisor to assist all Front-of-House restaurant operations and banquets under the direction of the Director, Food & Beverage. This position will assist in the training and supervision of all Front-of-House restaurant staff, ensure compliance with food health and safety regulations, and provide exemplary guest service. The ideal candidate enjoys entertaining, meeting new people and has an engaging, big personality that thrives in a team environment. The restaurant operations operate seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night. Therefore, operational demands require variations in shift days, starting and ending times, and hours worked in a week.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
1 year of related experience in a fine dining or upscale casual environment.
ServSafe and Basset Alcohol Training.
Must be able to delegate, set priorities, utilize a team to execute short and long-term plans, and establish accountability in a team setting.
Understanding of food and beverage operations including, but not limited to: food safety, cocktail making, wine programing, leadership, training, steps of service, upselling techniques, and guest interaction.
Flexibility to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in English required.
Strong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, multitasking, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments.
Ability to grasp, lift and or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 100 lbs.
Ability to stand for long periods indoors with a thematically climate-controlled workstation.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in a hotel setting is desirable.
A second language is desirable.

Responsibilities

Provide the highest and most efficient level of hospitality and customer service expected by our guests.
Ensure that the hospitality and service standards set forth by Study Hotels' operating principles are consistently implemented.
Engage and supervise Front-of-House team members, set clear expectations, and establish accountability in a team setting.
Create and support a positive working environment that promotes curiosity, teamwork and fosters growth.
Oversee daily activities such as side work, check open table reservations, and ensure the host station is set for service.
Comply with all federal, state, and local legal requirements, including food safety certification.
Ensure application of procedures and regulations to staff concerning hygiene and sanitation, fire and safety, and emergency protocols.
