About The Position

HELLO BETTY Bethesda is seeking a Restaurant Supervisor/Private Dining Coordinator to join their team. This role involves assisting the Restaurant Manager in all phases of restaurant operations, taking full responsibility for the restaurant in the manager's absence, and supporting the F&B Director in achieving private dining and event sales goals. The restaurant is located in the vibrant Pike & Rose community and features a unique boat bar.

Requirements

  • More than two (2) years of post-high school education or equivalent.
  • One to two full years of experience in a related position.
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession, including management of people and complex problems, and food and beverage management.
  • Excellent oral communication skills for guest and associate interaction, issuing instructions, and communicating policies.
  • Excellent comprehension skills for assisting with guest and associate matters and interpreting instructions from superiors.
  • Excellent vision for seating guests, expediting food, cleaning equipment, reading floor plans, charts, schedules, and preparing documentation.
  • Excellent reading and writing abilities for completing paperwork, management reports, giving and receiving instructions, and preparing/reviewing documentation and training.
  • Excellent hearing for discerning and resolving complaints, issues, and participating in meetings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
  • Proficient in Social Media Platforms.
  • Ability to hear, speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Effective business writing skills.
  • Ability to maintain strong internal and customer relationships.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and responsible manner, with good judgment, detail-orientation, friendliness, and composure under stress.
  • Ability to maintain extreme confidentiality and manage sensitive situations tactfully.

  • Must be punctual and well-prepared.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry tables, chairs, trays, plates, and chaffing dishes (20-40 lbs) on a daily basis.
  • Ability to bend to pick up dropped items and assist in serving food or getting supplies.
  • Mobility: 95% of shift covering all areas of outlets supervising.
  • Continuous standing to assist at hostess station.
  • Ability to climb stairs (varies by location).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor servers, server assistants, bartenders, and other restaurant associates, ensuring adherence to service standards and SOPs, including uniform, appearance, and attendance.
  • Supervise guest service, being attentive to guest needs.
  • Monitor and inspect the completion of side-work duties by servers, server assistants, and bartenders.
  • Maintain and balance the bank securely at all times.
  • Read daily communication sheets from previous shifts and prepare one for the following shift.
  • Check for personnel call-offs and ensure the floor plan is covered.
  • Inspect the restaurant for cleanliness and proper setup, including service stands, aisle areas, and table settings.
  • Communicate daily with the restaurant manager regarding special events, house counts, and team member activities.
  • Assist restaurant managers in conducting menu classes and taste panels.
  • Create BEO packets and ensure an adequate supply of menus for all shifts.
  • Maintain and update the office calendar with all new events.
  • Assist in the execution of private events.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of restaurant-level promotions (e.g., beer dinners, wine dinners, chef classes).
  • Assist with Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
  • Develop relationships with residential concierges in the local trade area, distributing promotional items.
  • Conduct weekly visits to ensure optimal brand positioning in key areas.
  • Track and report results.
