About The Position

Ameristar Casino Resort Spa is seeking candidates 18 or older for various positions, including this Restaurant Shift Lead role. This position is open until filled. The role involves overseeing daily operations, training team members, monitoring guest service and food quality, and managing expenses and labor. The Shift Lead will also ensure adherence to health regulations and company policies.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in food and beverage services required.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity required.
Must have excellent customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be fluent and literate in English.
Ability to maintain a high level of energy and take a proactive and strategic approach to dealing with issues.
Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Good organizational skills and ability to complete several ongoing activities, projects, or assignments to meet deadlines.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a high degree of honesty and candor.
Ability to adhere to, interpret, and explain company policies and procedures to others, including but not limited to attendance, appearance, safety, and security policies.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
Ability to obtain support for ideas and actions from peers or managers in order to accomplish a task or goal.
Must be 18 or older.

Responsibilities

Learning and being familiar with all of Ameristar Casino Resort and Spa’s room outlets, and for being able to answer general questions regarding the property.
Assisting in training and developing team members to the proper service standards.
Assisting the management team in monitoring guest service, food quality, and service quality on a consistent basis.
Assisting the management team in maintaining the morale of the department through open communication and teamwork.
Interacting with guests and team members by maintaining a visible presence in guest areas during peak business periods.
Managing the expenses for the outlets through par inventory maintenance and ordering supplies as needed.
Assisting in labor management by increasing and/or reducing labor based on business demands.
Ensuring that foods coming from the kitchens are up to designated standards; communicates with the culinary and chef teams if there are discrepancies in quality or consistency.
Observing and enforcing Health Department regulations regarding food handling, storage, proper steam table temperature, and cleanliness of work environment.
Attending company training programs as scheduled.
Completing opening, closing and other side duties as assigned by manager.
Performing all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
Maintaining strict confidentiality in all company matters.
