About The Position

The Server position is responsible for performing such services as the preparation, and/or serving of food and drinks in a restaurant setting. This position will support the Land’s End Resort, a 117-room hotel, in Homer, AK.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Must be 21 years of age or older to serve and prepare alcohol.
At least six (6) months of server experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting.
Must have Training for Alcohol Professionals (TAP) certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.
Municipality of Alaska Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.
Observes grooming, customer service, and uniform/ dress standards.
Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.

Nice To Haves

Preference will be given to the candidate with a minimum of one (1) years of consecutive employment in a similar operation with comparable responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Promptly greets guest and takes their order.
Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.
Follows TAPS ID verification and training guidelines.
Ability to enter orders into POS (Point of Sale) system.
Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
Serves drinks such as wine, beer, and cocktails to guests.
Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
Serves food items to assigned tables in manner it was ordered.
Totals up bills and accepts payments or refers patron to cashier.
Promptly clears and resets guest areas at conclusion of each course or service.
Ensure food stations are stocked according to checklists.
Break down service stations and cleans equipment.
Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.
