About The Position

The restaurant server/bartender provides exceptional service for both our Doheny Surf Restaurant and Longboard Rooftop Lounge. This role requires attending to guest needs, answering questions about food & beverage and hotel facilities, and maintaining knowledge of menus and recipes. The position also involves identifying and delivering food orders, adhering to liquor liability laws, and accurately recording drink orders. Handling difficult guest situations and understanding responsible beverage service are key aspects of this role. Additionally, the server/bartender will communicate guest needs to management, complete side work, maintain cleanliness of work areas, and ensure proper food handling and sanitation. Preparation of work areas for different shifts and reporting to work on time in proper uniform with excellent hygiene are also expected.

Requirements

  • Previous serving experience in a hotel setting such as Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt or another hotel brand.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work weekends, holidays and overnight shifts.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to satisfactory communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
  • RBS Certification will be required prior to the start of employment.
  • Must complete CA Food handlers Card training provided upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and properly perform all service standards.
  • Attend to guest needs by answering questions regarding food & beverage and our facilities accurately and in a friendly manner.
  • Maintain full knowledge of menus, recipes, and other pertinent information regarding the hotel.
  • Identify food orders when ready and deliver items to tables in a timely manner.
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to all liquor liability laws.
  • Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into Micros PMS.
  • Handle difficult situations effectively including understanding responsible pouring beverage.
  • Communicates with any guest needs to Director of Food + Beverage, Executive Chef and Food + Beverage Supervisor.
  • Completes side work during non-busy hours.
  • Always keep outlet areas clean and presentable.
  • Responsible for constant sanitation, organization, and proper food handling.
  • Prepare work areas for opening, mid-shift, or closing in accordance to company standards.
  • Reports to as scheduled, in uniform, and ready to be in position which includes uniform to be pressed and cleaned, name tag worn, and excellent hygiene.
