About The Position

CO-OP Restaurant & Lounge, located within The Study at University City, is seeking a polished and service-driven Host / Hostess to serve as the first point of contact for our guests. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming and organized dining experience while managing reservations, guest flow, and communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams. The ideal candidate is personable, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while delivering a thoughtful and engaging guest experience. This position plays a key role in setting the tone for service and ensuring seamless restaurant operations. Our caring and attentive associates reinforce our belief that guest service is our highest priority. We seek energetic, service-oriented individuals with a passion for hospitality, food, and guest engagement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous hospitality or customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience with reservation systems such as OpenTable preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in English required; a second language is a plus.
  • Ability to lift or carry items up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospitality or customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience with reservation systems such as OpenTable preferred.
  • Proficiency in English required; a second language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and seat guests promptly while delivering a warm and professional first impression.
  • Manage reservations and guest flow using OpenTable and other systems.
  • Answer and direct phone calls for reservations, guest inquiries, and internal communication.
  • Coordinate room service and to-go orders efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain awareness of VIP guests and special requests.
  • Handle cash, credit card transactions, and guest room charges accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with service staff and kitchen team to support smooth operations.
  • Maintain an organized host stand and clean work environment.
  • Provide knowledgeable responses to guest questions regarding menus and restaurant offerings.
  • Support team members as needed to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
