About The Position

As General Manager, you will own every aspect of Alvarado Street Brewery & Taproom’s front of house operations and customer service. Your responsibilities include employee hiring, scheduling, training, payroll, ordering, food/restaurant safety, inventory, and regulatory compliance. Attention to detail is vital across all functions of the operation, and the General Manager is responsible for cleanliness, maintenance of the facility, and excellent, attentive service from the staff. The General Manager is the face of the business, and must focus efforts towards enriching the guest experience, while ensuring a productive and pleasant work environment. This salaried exempt position reports directly to the Director of Restaurants.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of restaurant management experience.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Fair, consistent, impartial, and ethical leader.
  • Intermediate accounting and arithmetic skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with a desire to grow your career with ASB.
  • Excellent guest service and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Be the face of Alvarado Street Brewery & Taproom; form relationships with locals, vendors, community leaders, and staff, by always leading by example and setting a high bar of professionalism.
  • Ensure performance standards are met for the management team through organization, delegation, structure, time management, and assignment of responsibilities.
  • Hire, develop, and mentor shift leads and assistant managers.
  • Oversee employee selection, orientation, training, ongoing communication, appraisals, and terminations.
  • Direct and review supervisory training, accountability, problem solving, teamwork, and coaching.
  • Create and submit a schedule weekly that balances the needs of the business while maintaining monthly labor goals.
  • Establish a highly professional, service-oriented environment and high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Significant “on the floor” time to reinforce relations, recognize frequent guests, address issues, and ensure staff consistency.
  • Maintain the restaurant’s revenue, profitability, and quality goals.
  • Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste.
  • Communicate performance goals and results on a weekly basis to Dir. of Restaurants in a dedicated weekly Managers Meeting.
  • Identify maintenance and cleanliness issues and coordinate ongoing cleaning and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations by following and enforcing SERVSafe regulations and current certification status for all staff.
  • Evaluate all food & drink menu items periodically to ensure quality and consistency - communicate with kitchen & bar to ensure problems are rectified and that product quality is always at a high level.
  • Submit an accurate payroll on time each pay period.
  • Assist Chef with developing and enacting seasonal menu changes.
  • Assist Bar in developing and enacting seasonal menu changes.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts with the available resources to ensure Brewery events are successful, well attended, safe & fun.
  • Keep inventory areas stocked and organized, ordering all supplies for FOH (and certain BOH) items as needed.
  • Ensure end of the month tracking is accurate and submitted promptly.
  • Coordinate HR & Staffing Efforts, ensure progressive discipline is enacted through example and by managing other managers.
