About The Position

Essential Functions Greets everyone at all times. Smiles, makes eye contact and verbally greets guests and coworkers from arrival to the property through departure Provides enthusiastic customer service while interacting with guests and co-workers. Cheerfully accommodates the needs and requests of all guests. Engages guests in conversations regarding menu offerings and products. Adheres to all spotlight requirements and the service requirements of Service Culture training. Prepares all beverages utilizing standard portions, ingredients and garnish. Operates a point of sale, ringing in proper amount into register and giving guest or server correct change. Resourceful with all beverages, fruit and supplies in order to maintain low beverage costs while assuring quality products. Possesses knowledge of all liquors, beverage recipes and required garnishes. Familiarizes self with all items on the menu and daily specials to be able to make the best suggestions and assist guests with ordering food items. Utilizes suggestive selling for up sell of restaurant appetizers, beverages, and desserts. Records all food and beverage ordered items on guest check and inputs into POS system. Maintains a respectful and professional demeanor with guests at all times, follows guidelines provided by property alcohol management program. Assist in all aspects of this operation when necessary. Performs all side work duties as described for assigned shift Sincerely greets and welcomes all guests Maintains a professional presence when interacting with guests. Maintains a neat, clean, organized safe and comfortable environment at all times. Ability to suggest and describe available wines, and beverages. Acts as a role model and presents oneself as a credit to JACK Thistledown Racino and encourages others to do the same. Adheres to all department and company policies and procedures. Performs all related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Position requires 10% standing, 90% walking. Requires very frequent lifting, bending, pushing, twisting, kneeling, climbing, stooping and reaching overhead. Must be able to respond to touch, speech, smell, aural and visual cues. Must be able to exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to 10 (ten) hours in length. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment involving constant internal and external customer contact. Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; and, have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel. Respond to visual and aural cues. Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment. Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises and bright lights. Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. Ability to simultaneously manage several projects, and not be frustrated by changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives. Ability to speak distinctly and persuasively. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Able to balance a service tray.
  • Knowledge of wine service.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Neat, clean appearance.
  • Excellent and outgoing personality required.
  • Ability to be flexible with scheduling including nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Requires knowledge of operating point of sale.
  • Requires cash handling skills.
