About The Position

nLogic is seeking a Responsible Systems Engineer in Huntsville, AL to join the System Design and Requirements Capability team supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This role involves leading cross-functional systems engineering teams to develop system-level technical solutions, guiding the development of system architecture, requirements, and interfaces to influence incremental capability. The engineer will utilize Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to evaluate architectural impacts through functional behavior analysis for defeating various threat systems within MDA mission areas. They will also collaborate within the MBSE environment to develop system-of-systems requirements, conduct trade studies, lead the development of Change Notices (CNs) to MDA's system specification, and support verification tracing. The role requires developing and delivering products such as technical briefings and CNs for stakeholder reviews.

Requirements

  • Currently hold an Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Degree in an engineering classification, mathematics, or physics: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD
  • Demonstrate a strong technical background in system thinking, architecture development, functional decomposition, and allocation of requirements (performance, functional and interface definition) with system-modelling tools.
  • Strong prior experience with use of MSOSA (Cameo) and DOORS
  • Demonstrated knowledge in any of the MDA domain areas, including Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Fire Control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), IAMD (Integrated Air and Missile Defense) Battle Command System (IBCS), Space-Based Interceptor (SBI), NextGeneration Interceptor (NGI), Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems, Cruise Missile Defense, Air Defense.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think critically and capture concepts in papers, presentations, and discussions.
  • Possess good communication/presentation skills to communicate concepts and technical approach to customer.
  • Capable of working independently, within a small team environment, and work in close coordination with the customer.
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.).
  • Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems (i.e., aeromaneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.).
  • Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Fire Control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures), Air Defense (RIG-360, EX-BAR, Air Base Air Defense System (ABADS), Cloud Based Command and Control (CBC2), IAMD Battle Command System (IBCS)).
  • Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional systems engineering teams to develop system level technical solutions for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
  • Guide the development of system level architecture, requirements, and interfaces to influence incremental capability.
  • Use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to evaluate architectural impacts through functional behavior analysis for the defeat of conventional and advanced Threat (i.e., ballistic, aero-maneuvering, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.) systems within the MDA mission areas.
  • Use the MBSE environment collaborate to develop system-ofsystems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis and lead the development of Change Notices (CNs) to MDA's system specification including functional, interface and performance requirements, architectural models, interface definitions, and support Trace verification from System to Element level requirements.
