About The Position

This is a heartwarming opportunity for compassionate providers who love making a difference! We work with members throughout Wisconsin to find providers that fit each of their needs. Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible. A local family in Menomonie is seeking a reliable, patient, energetic, and compassionate respite provider to support their young child with Non-Verbal Autism. This role involves providing attentive supervision, showing a lot of patience, engaging in activities, and helping to create a safe and positive environment while giving parents an opportunity to recharge. The child is a sweet, energetic, and affectionate young boy. On his best days, you'll be greeted with smiles, hugs, and plenty of opportunities for fun, play and learning. He loves being active, spending time outdoors, listening to music, coloring, reading books, and exploring his backyard swing set. He enjoys climbing, running, jumping, and exploring his environment, though he struggles with safety awareness and communicating. Because of this, he requires constant supervision and a caregiver who can physically keep up with him.

Requirements

• MUST successfully pass a caregiver/criminal background check.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
• CPR/First Aid Certified (within 30 days of hire)
• Must be pet friendly and comfortable working in the family home.
• Experience working closely with young children.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive one-on-one safety supervision.
• Find unique strategies for communicating with the child.
• Engage him in play, sensory activities, and possibly community fun outings.
• Redirect and distract when needed to help maintain a positive environment.
• Support potty-training efforts using patience and positive encouragement.
• Assist in meal prep and encourage healthy eating habits with some exposure to new foods.
• Assist with maintaining established routines and transitions.
