About The Position

The Respite Programs Assistant is a very part-time role, averaging about 15 hours per month. This position supports TREs respite events by serving as a second staff member at 2 to 3 events per month, often during evenings or weekends. TRE frequently hosts multiple events at the same time, and this role provides essential on-site support to ensure safety, engagement, and smooth operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work with families, thrives in community settings, and wants flexible, low-hour involvement with TRE programs. The Respite Programs Assistant provides essential support to TREs respite programs serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers. This very part-time role supports respite events by serving as a second staff member, helping ensure safety, engagement, and smooth operations. The position collaborates with the Respite Programs Manager and provides on-site assistance during scheduled respite sessions. This role requires initiative, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate independently during program events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Understanding and empathy for families caring for individuals with disabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Reliable vehicle, valid Colorado drivers license, and recommended insurance coverage of 100,000 / 300,000 / 100,000

Responsibilities

  • Attend and support 2 to 3 respite events per month, typically evenings or weekends.
  • Serve as a second staff member during events to ensure participant safety and engagement.
  • Provide on-site assistance during simultaneous or multiple monthly events.
  • Support volunteers and help maintain a positive, inclusive environment.
  • Serve as a point of contact for basic inquiries regarding respite services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for family contacts and service requests.
  • Ensure respite brochures and informational materials are accessible and up to date.
  • Track attendance to support scheduling, communication, and program improvement.
  • Assist in identifying new group or individualized respite opportunities.
  • Support preparation and organization of program materials.
  • Help maintain program storage bins and ensure supplies are available at each event.
  • Participate in All-Staff meetings, team check-ins, and TRE-sponsored events as needed.
  • Engage in required and ongoing professional development.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned to support program goals.
