About The Position

This position provides patient care in Step Down and general care areas under the direct supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist. The role is not assigned to critical care areas or ventilator management. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited respiratory therapy program and obtain an Alabama student license within 30 days of employment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Enrollment in a CoARC- or CAAHEP-accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Obtain a student license issued by the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy within 30 days of employment.
• BLS certification is mandatory upon completion of the orientation period.
• Ability to work in general care areas, excluding critical care areas and ventilator management.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize and frequently and quickly change tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• BLS certification is preferred during the hiring process.
• Clinical experience obtained while attending a respiratory therapy program.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in Step Down and general care areas under the direct supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist.
• Perform and recommend procedures in bronchial hygiene, oxygen therapy, and basic respiratory diagnostics.
