About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory services to VITAS patients to enhance their quality of life. The therapist assesses the respiratory status of patients admitted to the VITAS program as directed by the interdisciplinary team and evaluates the effectiveness of their current respiratory regimens. The therapist contributes to the interdisciplinary plan of care to promote optimal respiratory function in line with each patient's potential, instructs patients and caregivers in respiratory care procedures and techniques, and participates in patient care as needed and directed by the team. The role also includes timely completion of appropriate documentation and providing educational programs for VITAS staff members.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• For RRT candidates, acute care and home care field experience is required.
• For CRTT candidates, at least two years of experience, including at least one year in acute care and one year in home care field experience.
• Experience with respiratory-related home care equipment, compressed medical gases, concentrators, and liquid oxygen.
• Graduate of an approved program to train Respiratory Therapists.
• National Board for Respiratory Care credentialed, with CRTT as the minimum credential.
• Current State License for Respiratory Care Practitioner, if applicable.

• RRT credential preferred.
