About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory services to VITAS patients to help enhance their quality of life. The therapist assesses the respiratory status of patients admitted to the VITAS program as directed by the interdisciplinary team, evaluates the effectiveness of their current respiratory regimens, and contributes to interdisciplinary plans of care to promote optimal respiratory function in light of each patient's potential. The therapist instructs patients and caregivers in appropriate respiratory care procedures and techniques, participates in patient care as needed and as directed by the team, completes documentation promptly, and provides educational programs for VITAS staff.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• RRT candidates must have acute care and home care field experience.
• CRTT candidates must have at least two years of experience, including at least one year in acute care and one year in home care field experience.
• Experience with respiratory-related home care equipment, compressed medical gases, concentrators, and liquid oxygen.
• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapist training program.
• National Board for Respiratory Care credentialing, with CRTT as the minimum credential.
• Current State License for Respiratory Care Practitioner, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred.

Responsibilities
