About The Position

At Corewell Health Trenton, the Respiratory Therapist works in a team-driven department that provides care in a Level Two Trauma Center, adult critical care units, and general care units. The department uses current technology and emphasizes patient comfort, including private rooms.

Under minimal direction, the Registered Respiratory Therapist implements and evaluates diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services to help physicians diagnose and manage patients with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. The therapist also educates patients, students, staff, and physicians; provides technical support for respiratory care equipment; and assists with general department functions.

Corewell Health Trenton Hospital is a 193-bed acute care teaching hospital with nine university-affiliated residency programs. It provides medical and surgical care, private beds, medical and surgical intensive care, and obstetrical care.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Eligible for the position after attaining RRT status through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Michigan State Respiratory Therapist license required upon hire.
• NBRC Respiratory Therapist Registry credential required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Implement and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services to assist physicians in diagnosing and managing patients with cardiopulmonary and related disorders.
• Participate in educating patients, students, staff, and physicians.
• Provide technical support for equipment related to the practice of Respiratory Care.
• Assist with general department functions.
