The Respiratory Therapist will perform, teach, and guide all forms of respiratory therapy, chest physical therapy, and cardiopulmonary diagnostics. This role requires assessing and treating patients of all age groups, from neonatal to geriatric, and implementing care based on developmental stages. The therapist will involve families/guardians in the plan of care and conduct patient/family education. Responsibilities include administering various respiratory therapies, understanding equipment, providing intensive respiratory care, establishing and maintaining airways during CPR, performing cardiac massage if necessary, performing arterial punctures for blood gas analysis, and conducting pulmonary function testing. The role also involves explaining procedures, developing home care instructions, participating in continuing education, conferring with nurses and physicians, maintaining patient records, guiding Respiratory Therapy Techs, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and performing selected duties of the Director in their absence. Adherence to all hospital standards, policies, and procedures is required.
