About The Position

Assists Physicians, as requested with Respiratory Therapy procedures. Provide respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as ordered by physicians according hospital policy and procedures. Assess patients to determine most suitable method of administering treatment. Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe verbal or phone order by physicians. Communicate to patient and family the treatment being performed in a clear manner. Monitor patient physiological response to therapy with special attention to the pediatric and neonatal patients. Provide patient and staff education.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or proof of registry eligible status
  • State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure within six months of employment
  • Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) within 24 months of employment
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) within 24 months of employment
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within 24 months of employment
