About The Position

AMG Specialty Hospital - Lafayette is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist for Night Shifts. This role involves caring for patients with complex medical needs, including respiratory failure requiring various ventilation methods (vapotherm, high flow, bipap, cpap, nasal cannula), sedation/pain management, pressor management, cardiac/anti-arrhythmic management, complicated infections requiring long-term IV antibiotics, and chronic non-healing wounds requiring extensive treatment with wound vacs and frequent dressing changes. RNs will be responsible for direct and indirect patient care in the long-term acute care setting. The ability to communicate effectively with physicians and co-workers about patient conditions, diagnostic studies, and symptomatology is crucial. The role requires quick and accurate responses to changes in patient condition or response to treatment, as well as performing general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Shift differentials are paid for all Night and Weekend Shifts.

Requirements

Completion of an approved respiratory care program
Active Louisiana Respiratory Therapist License
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification
Minimum of one to three years of related work experience
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English

Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect patient care in a long-term acute care setting.
Manage patients with respiratory failure requiring ventilation, vapotherm, high flow, bipap, cpap, and nasal cannula.
Administer sedation/pain management, pressor management, and cardiac/anti-arrhythmic management as needed.
Treat complicated infections requiring long-term IV antibiotics.
Manage chronic non-healing wounds requiring extensive treatment with wound vacs and frequent dressing changes.
Communicate with physicians and co-workers about changes in patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
