About The Position

AMG Specialty Hospital - Lafayette is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist for Day Shifts. This role involves caring for patients with complex medical needs, including respiratory failure requiring ventilation, vapotherm, high flow, bipap, cpap, and nasal cannula. Patients may also require sedation/pain management, pressor management, and cardiac/anti-arrhythmic management. Additionally, the role may involve caring for patients with complicated infections requiring long-term IV antibiotics and chronic non-healing wounds requiring extensive treatment with wound vacs and frequent dressing changes. RNs will be responsible for direct and indirect patient care in the long-term acute care setting. The ability to communicate effectively with physicians, CCO/co-workers about changes in patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology, is crucial. The therapist must respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. General nursing duties may also be performed in all departments with adequate supervision. Shift Differentials are paid for all Weekend Shifts.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved respiratory care program.
  • Active Louisiana Respiratory Therapist License.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Minimum of one to three years of related work experience.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care in a long-term acute care setting.
  • Manage patients with respiratory failure requiring ventilation, vapotherm, high flow, bipap, cpap, and nasal cannula.
  • Assist with sedation/pain management, pressor management, and cardiac/anti-arrhythmic management for complex patients.
  • Care for patients with complicated infections requiring long-term IV antibiotics.
  • Treat chronic non-healing wounds requiring extensive treatment with wound vacs and frequent dressing changes.
  • Communicate with physicians, CCO/co-workers about changes in patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
  • Perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
