Respiratory Therapist CRT / RRT - FT Days
About The Position
The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care through the Respiratory Care Department at Saint Mary's Hospital. The role uses considerable independent clinical judgment to deliver quality patient care and serves as a technical resource to physicians and other healthcare workers regarding current respiratory care practices. The therapist sets up, operates, and manages respiratory equipment, including mechanical ventilators, NIPPV/CPAP, and high-flow oxygen devices, and manages patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation. This is a full-time, 36-hour-per-week position working 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. day shifts.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Care.
- Minimum of a two-year Associate's degree.
- Current Connecticut Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Thorough knowledge of the procedures and patient care techniques involved in respiratory care.
Responsibilities
- Administer respiratory care offered by the Respiratory Care Department.
- Use independent clinical judgment in delivering quality patient care.
- Serve as a technical resource to physicians and other healthcare workers on current respiratory care practices.
- Set up, operate, and manage patient care using respiratory equipment, including mechanical ventilators, NIPPV/CPAP, and high-flow oxygen devices.
- Manage patients on invasive mechanical ventilation modes, including AC, PSV, PC, APRV, and Bi-level.
