About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to patients across all age groups, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, conducting clinical assessments, and supporting patient respiratory health. The role works closely with physicians and the healthcare team to help ensure safe, effective, and timely patient care. The position reports to the Director of Respiratory Therapy and includes on-call coverage and assistance during periods of high census or staffing shortages.

Requirements

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), or eligibility to obtain credentialing.
Eligible candidates must obtain full credentialing within 24 months.
Current BLS certification.
Ability to stand, lift, and operate respiratory equipment.
Ability to work in a hospital environment with moderate physical demands and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other clinical hazards.

Nice To Haves

ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
At least 6 months of hospital-based respiratory therapy experience.
Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities

Perform respiratory assessments, pulse oximetry, aerosol therapy, EKGs, and arterial and capillary blood gas sampling.
Initiate, monitor, and adjust mechanical ventilation.
Provide emergency respiratory interventions, including CPR.
Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on respiratory equipment.
Document patient care and procedures accurately.
Maintain equipment cleanliness and adequate department supplies.
Assist with onboarding and training new staff.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives, required training, and department meetings.
Provide culturally competent, age-appropriate patient care.
Participate in on-call coverage and assist during high census or staffing shortages.
