About The Position

Under the direction and authorization of the medical director and cardiopulmonary director or manager, the Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II) performs respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the ordering provider. The role emphasizes assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation of care, with consideration of the age- and population-specific needs and requirements of each patient. On occasion, the practitioner may be assigned or identified as Lead RCP, with responsibility for the section or department during their shift.

Requirements

Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), or obtain it within three months of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire, maintained current.
Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA or ARC upon hire, maintained current.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the AHA upon hire, maintained current, or obtain it within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate.
Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree.
Two years of acute care experience.

Responsibilities

Perform respiratory therapeutic procedures as ordered by the ordering provider.
Perform pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the ordering provider.
Assess, plan, implement, and document patient care while considering age- and population-specific needs.
When assigned as Lead RCP, assume responsibility for the section or department during the shift.
