About The Position

One (1) temporary modified full-time (0.8 FTE) Respiratory Therapist position is available at Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA). The WHCA is comprised of two corporations with more than 1,000 staff, including physicians and volunteers, operating three vibrant acute care hospital sites: Groves Memorial Community Hospital (Fergus) and North Wellington Health Care (Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest & Palmerston and District Hospital in Palmerston). The homesite for this position will be Groves Memorial Community Hospital. The Respiratory Therapist makes decisions and accepts responsibility for all aspects of Respiratory patient care in accordance with Departmental, Hospital(s) and Legislative Standards that govern the profession. The Respiratory Therapist is primarily responsible in a clinical role for the assessment, treatment, education and management of patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This position has the additional responsibility for the management of day-to-day service operations, staff support, as well as other delegated educational and administrative activities. Keeps current in professional skills and knowledge through education.

Requirements

  • Degree in Respiratory Therapy from Approved School
  • Current Certificate of Competence with CRTO
  • Current BCLS and NRP essential.
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience with all aspects of core competencies within Respiratory Therapist role
  • Good working knowledge of related hospital processes, procedures and policies (i.e. Code of Ethics, Occupational Health and Safety)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Professional Standards of Practice
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated excellence in patient-focused care
  • Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking and problem solving
  • Demonstrated excellence in organization and time management
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills

  • Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
  • Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired

Nice To Haves

  • PALS and ACLS preferred
  • Certified Respiratory Educator certification preferred
