About The Position

Carries out all the duties up to and including Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT). Performs special duties related to Respiratory Care. Under direct supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, performs quality patient care as a member of the respiratory care team particularly in specialized areas providing intensive respiratory care as medically prescribed with minimal supervision. Carries out all the duties outlined in the job description up to and including Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRT). Initiates, administers and monitors all respiratory care procedures in the critical care areas. Evaluation of adequacy and appropriateness of therapy. Airway management-airway insertion, endotracheal suctioning and tube care. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation-respond to all Code Blues. Arterial puncture, Blood Gas analysis and interpretation. Secondary Duties & Responsibilities: Consults with physicians concerning respiratory care management of the patient, communication of equipment malfunction to the Supervisor and/or Technical Director and documentation of such. Performs all other duties as required.

Requirements

  • This position requires a minimum formal education of Associate Degree or certification equivalent and a minimum of 6 months job-related experience.
  • License Respiratory Therapist/Technician, New York State.
  • ACLS & BLS Certificate and FDNY Certificate of Fitness ( after 6 months)

Nice To Haves

  • Any type of health care related degree RRT, with one year or more experience in Respiratory Therapy Department.
