About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist sets up, operates, and administers respiratory care equipment and procedures used to diagnose and treat respiratory disease in general-floor and critical-care areas. The position evaluates therapeutic objectives and outcomes, transcribes physicians’ verbal orders into the medical record, and provides respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients. This is an internal travel role with 13-week assignments and the potential for up to three extensions. The posting lists day shift and locations in various areas of Phoenix, Arizona. The therapist operates and monitors mechanical ventilators, supports airway patency and humidification, assists with transport of mechanically ventilated patients, performs respiratory treatments and oxygen administration, and explains therapies to patients and families. Other clinical duties include arterial punctures, blood gas and related testing, basic pulmonary function testing, oximetry, resuscitation support, equipment cleaning and troubleshooting, and timely documentation of care and patient responses. Some therapists perform more comprehensive pulmonary function and pulmonary stress studies.
