About The Position

This position provides respiratory therapy patient care in critical care, step-down, and general care areas, as well as during critical care transports. The therapist must be able to perform and recommend procedures involving bronchial hygiene, oxygen therapy, respiratory diagnostic procedures, and all levels of mechanical ventilation. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while frequently and quickly prioritizing and changing tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
License from the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy.
Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Clinical experience obtained while attending a respiratory program.
Ability to function in critical settings, including initiation and support of mechanical ventilation.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize and change tasks frequently and quickly.

Nice To Haves

BLS certification is preferred; if required, it must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer during orientation.
ACLS and/or PALS certifications are preferred.
Experience with intubation and critical care transport competencies.
