About The Position
CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson, part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join an established team providing specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients with breathing issues. The role includes treatments ranging from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support. The Respiratory Therapist uses assessment skills and critical thinking to manage varied patient needs, develop and carry out effective care plans, and provide calm, focused intervention in routine and emergent situations. Success in the role requires urgency, composure under pressure, the ability to anticipate outcomes, dedication to patient well-being, and strong problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- North Dakota Respiratory Care Practitioner credential, upon hire.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credential, upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (CPR), upon hire.

- Neonatal Resuscitation Program, upon hire.
Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care in a caring and respectful manner using the respiratory/nursing process.
- Interview, examine, and assess patients with suspected or confirmed breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders or symptoms.
- Consult with physicians to develop patient treatment plans.
- Perform diagnostic tests.
- Administer therapeutic treatments according to patient needs and physician orders.
- Monitor and record patients’ responses to treatment.
- Provide breathing techniques, nebulizer treatments, ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support.
