Respiratory Therapist - Full-time Days
About The Position
Select Specialty Hospital - Hampton Roads is hiring a full-time Respiratory Therapist for day shifts at its critical illness recovery hospital in Newport News, Virginia. The hospital provides inpatient post-ICU care to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. The position includes an extensive orientation program, opportunities for career advancement and skills development, tuition reimbursement, continuing education, a clinical ladder program, and a student debt benefit program. Full-time team members are offered generous PTO and medical/RX, health, vision, and dental plan options, as well as company-matching 401(k) and life and disability protection. Compensation is $35.00–$47.10, with a $15,000 sign-on bonus.
Requirements
- Must possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
- Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma preferred, or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
- Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
- Current state licensure is required.
- ACLS is required within six months of hire. Agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS before their first shift, and PRN staff must have ACLS upon hire.

- One year of related experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
- Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
- Promote continuous quality improvement.
- Teach and counsel patients and families.
