About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for inpatients and outpatients of all age groups at Piedmont Medical Center who require respiratory therapy services. The role performs respiratory care and diagnostic testing of the cardiopulmonary system, maintains quality control of respiratory care equipment, and completes position competencies during the designated introductory period. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited and approved Respiratory Care Technician or Therapist program.
• Associate degree required.
• Current Respiratory Therapy licensure through the South Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office.
• Current CRTT credential verified by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• American Heart Association BLS CPR certification, to be obtained within 7 days of hire.
• American Heart Association PALS and ACLS certifications, required within the orientation period.
• NRP certification required for NICU-trained therapists.

Nice To Haves

• 2 to 5 years of job-related experience preferred.
• RRT credential verified by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of respiratory care, including diagnostic testing of the cardiopulmonary system.
• Perform quality control on respiratory care equipment, including I-STAT blood gas analyzers.
• Provide respiratory care to patients.
• Complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
