About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for inpatients and outpatients of all age populations at Piedmont Medical Center who require respiratory therapy services. The role includes providing respiratory care and performing diagnostic testing of the cardiopulmonary system, as well as quality control for respiratory care equipment, including I-STAT blood gas analyzers. The therapist must complete position competencies within the designated introductory period and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited and approved Respiratory Care Technician or Therapist program.
• Associate degree required.
• Current Respiratory Therapy licensure through the South Carolina Medical Examiner’s office.
• Current CRTT credential, verified by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required; must be obtained within 7 days of hire.
• American Heart Association PALS and ACLS certifications required within the orientation period.
• NRP certification required for NICU-trained therapists.

Nice To Haves

• 2 to 5 years of job-related experience preferred.
• RRT credential preferred, verified by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of respiratory care, including diagnostic testing of the cardiopulmonary system.
• Performs quality control on respiratory care equipment, including I-STAT blood gas analyzers.
• Provides respiratory care to patients.
• Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
