Requirements

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
Current and valid Respiratory Therapist license in the state of New Jersey.
Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
Demonstrated clinical experience in respiratory care within a hospital or acute care setting.
Clinical assessment skills will be essential for accurately diagnosing respiratory conditions and tailoring treatment plans.
Proficiency in operating respiratory therapy equipment and technology ensures safe and effective patient care delivery.
Strong communication skills are vital for educating patients and collaborating with healthcare teams to coordinate comprehensive care.
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities enable you to respond swiftly to emergencies and adjust therapies based on patient responses.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related healthcare field.
Experience working in critical care, neonatal, or pediatric respiratory therapy.
Additional certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and respiratory care documentation software.
Strong background in patient education and interdisciplinary team collaboration.

Responsibilities

Assesses plans, administers, and evaluates patients receiving all respiratory care modalities as ordered by a physician or as delineated by medical center protocols.
Responsible for the delivery of respiratory care services to the in-patient, and emergency room population.
Evaluate patients' respiratory status and develop appropriate treatment plans based on physician orders and clinical assessments.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and participate in clinical rounds and case discussions.
Provides emergency, critical care, and general care respiratory services to patients of all ages.
Meeting with and examining patients who have pulmonary diseases, disorders, or complications
Conducting, performing, and analyzing diagnostic and function tests to assess lung capacity and capability
Working with physicians and nurses to create treatment plans
Treating patients with aerosol medications and chest physiotherapy
Administering inhalants
Operating mechanical ventilators and other machines
Training patients how to administer treatments and use equipment on their own
Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation support.
Monitor and document patient responses to treatments, adjusting care plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
Operate and maintain respiratory care equipment, ensuring all devices are functioning safely and effectively.
Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques, disease management, and use of home respiratory equipment.
Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies, intubating and provide critical care support as needed.
