About The Position

This position specializes in the application of scientific knowledge and theory to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. The Respiratory Therapist assumes primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities specific to his or her clinical area, including responsibility involved in supervision of students enrolled in respiratory care programs. The Respiratory Therapist may be required to exercise considerable independent clinical judgment in the respiratory care of patients under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician.

Requirements

• Graduation from a CoARC accredited program in respiratory care with an associate's degree required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
• Licensed by the State of New York.
• OR: Polysom Technologist with associate degree in polysom.
• Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) required.
• BLS/CPR Certification within orientation period.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assumes primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities specific to his or her clinical area.
• Supervises students enrolled in respiratory care programs.
• Exercises considerable independent clinical judgment in the respiratory care of patients under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician.
• Participates in orientation and continuing education as mandated by the State of New York.
• Updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of practice expertise.
• Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.

• Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
