About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist II administers safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by a physician, with emphasis on specialty areas such as Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. The role includes monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, assessing patients, understanding hemodynamic monitoring and blood work results, and monitoring, teaching, and training. The position reports to the Practice Coordinator Respiratory Therapy, Respiratory Therapy.

Requirements

• Graduation from a two-year AMA-accredited Respiratory Care Program or equivalent training.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification through the NBRC. Current SAMC staff with Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRT) certification and significant previous experience may be accepted in lieu of RRT certification.
• Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with the State of California.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR card.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care with emphasis in specialty areas, including Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care.
• Monitor mechanical ventilation.

• Understand the ramifications of hemodynamic monitoring.
• Understand blood work results.
• Monitor, teach, and train.
