About The Position

Provides assessment, treatment, care, education, and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies. The role delivers and evaluates ordered respiratory therapy, monitors and communicates patient conditions, responds to emergency resuscitation calls, and educates patients and families about illness, medications, and support resources. The position requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work under minimal supervision in a stressful environment.

Requirements

• No experience required.
• Associate's degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy, or an associate's degree or higher in a related field, required upon hire. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required upon hire.
• Kentucky Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification required within 90 days of employment.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and take appropriate action in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ordered therapy according to the plan of care and assess the patient's response.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluate respiratory practice, medication administration, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls.
• Educate patients and families about illness and medications, and provide information about community support groups and other resources.
