About The Position

The Non-Kinetic Effects Business Area, part of the Defense Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Respiratory Testing Technician at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM CBC) facility located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience to help achieve and advance the DEVCOM CBC mission. In this mission, we provide support with basic and applied research, development, testing, and evaluation efforts to support the U.S. Warfighter and ensure our Warfighters maintain battlefield dominance during a chemical and/or biological event.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in chemistry/or closely related field with 2+ years of experience or High school diploma/equivalent with 4+ years of prior relevant experience in filter testing and respiratory protection is required.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience and be well versed in safe usage of filter leak test equipment and chemical monitoring equipment.
  • Candidate must have documented understanding of health science and/or engineering principles specific to respiratory systems.
  • Candidate must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related sciences/field
  • Prior experience working with MINICAMS®, Depot Area Air Monitoring System (DAAMS), and gas chromatography systems.
  • Experience supporting a U.S. Government test and evaluation organization.
  • Experience with 3D printing and Computer Aided Design (CAD)

Responsibilities

  • Equipment setup, systemization, operation and maintenance of chemical and biological filtration systems to include High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) and High Efficiency Gas Adsorber (HEGA) systems.
  • Testing support for Automated Metabolic Breathing simulator and other respiratory protection systems.
  • Operations debugging, optimization testing, and repair for specialized chemical monitoring equipment.
  • Calibration and verification testing of chemical laboratory equipment, to include chemical sensors and filtration media testing systems
  • Assessment of chemical monitoring data to ensure health laboratory environments and support respiratory media and filtration testing.
  • Independently execute and collaborate with Principal Investigators to drive daily laboratory operations in support of respiratory protection objectives, significantly impacting operational efficiency and project delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to drive in-depth analyses on how applied technologies affect our solutions in respiratory protection.
  • Design solutions to resolve multifaceted technical issues that are vague and demand advanced technical expertise in applied sciences.
  • Be an effective communicator with Principal Investigators and stakeholders.
