About The Position

Performs extender duties for respiratory care services. Management of all equipment and supply ordering through computer ordering system. Work with Manager and Supply Chain to assure availability of all supplies needed, finding substitute replacements when necessary. Is a resource to the Respiratory Care team. Review reports from medical record documentation for charging and documentation accuracy. Interacts with internal and external customers. Assist with transfer of lab specimens, performs high level disinfection and sterilization of equipment. Assures proper function of equipment. Performs back-up delegate duties. Performs extender duties for respiratory care Systems coordinator and Respiratory Care educator. Job responsibilities will evolve to include more reporting of patient care workload requirements when Medical Documentation System is standardized with the Upstate Affiliate of PrismaHealth.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years Support role in health care setting.
  • Management of supplies.
  • Data entry.
  • Customer Service
  • Uses computer skills which may include any of the Microsoft Office applications; these include word processing, database management, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, and electronic mail required.

Responsibilities

  • Management of all equipment and supply ordering through computer ordering system.
  • Work with Manager and Supply Chain to assure availability of all supplies needed, finding substitute replacements when necessary.
  • Review reports from medical record documentation for charging and documentation accuracy.
  • Assist with transfer of lab specimens, performs high level disinfection and sterilization of equipment.
  • Assures proper function of equipment.
  • Performs back-up delegate duties.
  • Performs extender duties for respiratory care Systems coordinator and Respiratory Care educator.
  • Evaluate charge capture processes in Respiratory Care departments based on reports run from EMR.
  • Follow-up with the Manager/Clinical Quality with any corrections, errors, late charges, etc.
  • Daily identify and research Missed Medication as requested.
  • Receive all incoming calls and reply/respond appropriately.
  • Receive calls from various sources for availability to schedule appointments for patients designated areas of the Department.
  • Receive patients and family members and make family as comfortable as possible during and after family member’s procedure.
  • Provides support as patient-family-physician liaison.
  • Performs patient scheduling and physician coordination, office duties.
  • Performs all duties of Respiratory Care Support Technicians and fills in for coverage as needed.
  • Provides training and support for new hires and reviews and updates daily workflows and procedures.
  • Provides guidance for Respiratory Care Support Technicians, oversees orientation and training, updates policies and procedures, attends staff meetings and assist in solving of daily problems and process improvement.
  • Receives supplies, sort and place in proper bins rotating stocks to ensure oldest is used first.
  • Assist with cleaning equipment, storage rooms, procedure room and waiting area.
  • Track data when sending out equipment for repairs.
  • Receives materials and supplies, performs put away by verification of item number and description.
  • Distributes supplies and assures supplies are in the correct location, stocked and correct par set.
  • Follow-up on request for supplies or equipment that are not readily available.
  • Ordering supplies and maintaining levels of supplies.
  • Perform weekly inventory and orders supplies.
  • Maintains office supplies.
  • Keeps forms up to date and creates new forms as needed.
  • Maintains all office equipment and calls for service if needed.
  • Maintains all maintenance logs and records and repair logs for Bronchoscopy equipment.
  • Assist with cleaning of respiratory care equipment and setting up for next use.
  • Performs Prisma RCS quality audits as assigned by leadership, requires research, data collection, correlation, entry and spreadsheet development and entry into report back leadership.
  • Updates policy and procedure manuals when needed.
  • Track Bronchoscopy Data for monthly/yearly compilation for Medical Director and Manager.
  • Provides bedside support for bronchoscopy procedures by assisting with documentation and transporting of specimens, provides high level disinfection of equipment and delivery to and from bedside.
  • Provides high level disinfection of reusable equipment.
  • Provides cleaning of all equipment based on IFU.
  • Sets up equipment for next use following cleaning.
