About The Position

MUSC/Florence Medical Center is seeking a PRN Respiratory Student to join their team. This role operates under the director of a licensed Respiratory Therapy professional. The Respiratory Therapy student is responsible for administering pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures. This includes implementing treatment, disease prevention, or diagnostic regimes prescribed by a physician. The role also involves assessing, observing, and monitoring signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to respiratory care treatments and diagnostic testing. The student will implement appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on physician orders and make changes in treatment pursuant to physician orders. The ability to assess and initiate emergency procedures is required, and collaboration with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery to achieve desired patient outcomes is essential. All other required duties will also be performed.

Requirements

  • Must be a respiratory student, active and in good standing.
  • May be employed and works under the direct supervision of a respiratory care practitioner.
  • Practices to the person’s level of proven clinical competence, as certified by a program approved by the AARC.
  • Must be checked off in all clinical modalities as outlined in a Respiratory Care Accredited Program.
  • Current BLS certification as required by program affiliation.

Responsibilities
