Ensures the availability of Life Support Equipment to meet changing needs for routine and emergent situations. Monitors and communicates changes in supply utilization patterns to assure supplies and equipment meet changing clinical practice needs. Redeploys used equipment using sound infection control procedures. Inventories & maintains resuscitation and oxygen equipment at bedsides in care units throughout the facility. The respiratory care discipline at Children's is generating a new perspective with cutting-edge clinical and diagnostic services including the development of clinical treatment protocols for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. Respiratory care is provided in a collaborative environment where the clinical and technical expertise of the respiratory care staff is valued by nursing and physician professionals. Respiratory care staff are encouraged to participate in clinical and operational processes, education of peers and patients, and research activities. Respiratory care plays a vital role in Children's national recognition for patient safety and family-centered care. Respiratory therapists are involved in airway management, ventilatory support (including high frequency and NAVA), asthma education, point of care testing, cystic fibrosis disease management, and emergency respiratory interventions.
