About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager, and as directed by a physician, the Respiratory Care Practitioner provides excellent patient care by assessing patients’ cardiopulmonary status, setting up and operating respiratory care equipment used to diagnose and treat respiratory disease or illness, and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members.

USC Verdugo Hills Hospital is part of Keck Medicine of USC and is described as a community hospital in the Foothills area of Los Angeles backed by an academic medical center. The position is full-time on a 12-hour night shift and is union-represented. The hourly pay range is $43.60–$58.67. USC states that offers are determined using factors including the position’s scope and responsibilities, experience, education and training, skills, internal equity, applicable laws and contractual stipulations, funding, and market and organizational considerations.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Valid California Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
• RRT and CRT licensure are required for employees hired on or after November 1, 2019.
• NRP, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Annual AB 508 certification. If the required card is not held upon hire, it must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer into the department and maintained through renewal before expiration.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
• One to two years of experience working as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ cardiopulmonary status.
• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease or illness.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support patient care.
• Provide patient care as directed by a physician and under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager.
