About The Position

Cottage Health is hiring a per diem Respiratory Care Practitioner who will float between Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital and Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The practitioner provides respiratory treatments, therapies, diagnostic tests, and procedures in accordance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and protocols. Responsibilities include maintaining clear airways, titrating oxygen appropriately, managing ventilators, and documenting care and procedures.

Requirements

• California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License.
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• NRP certification within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Administer ordered aerosolized respiratory medications and chest percussion.
• Complete and document ordered respiratory treatments, therapies, diagnostic tests, and procedures, including those not completed.
• Establish and maintain a clear patient airway appropriate to the patient's condition.
• Maintain proper oxygen titration for patients receiving ventilator support and for non-ventilated patients in respiratory distress.
• Set up, administer, manage, and chart ventilators according to manufacturer specifications and department policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Complete all assigned educational programs, tests, and classes.
• Perform clinical and diagnostic procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures.
