Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA Respiratory Therapy Program
  • AZ Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Responsibilities

  • Provide essential direct patient care, assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory disorders.
  • Improve patient outcomes.
  • Assess respiratory status.
  • Implement treatment plans (oxygen, ventilation, airway management).
  • Educate patients/families.
  • Document interventions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and medical staff.
  • Perform full range of basic respiratory care for all patient populations.
  • Perform and document a complete patient assessment including (but not limited to) vital signs, breath sounds, cough, and respiratory pattern with each ventilator system check and with each treatment.
  • Check all equipment and respiratory modalities (including invasive and non-invasive), maintain alarms and document accurately and completely.
  • Perform ABGs utilizing 2 patient identifiers, properly handle blood specimens, report critical values, and maintain blood gas lab logs (where applicable).
  • Accurately complete patient billing.
  • Correctly charge, label, scan and discard medications.
