About The Position

Join the Respiratory Team at BJC Healthcare's Missouri Baptist Medical Center as a Respiratory Care Assistant. This is a perfect opportunity for respiratory students to gain experience! The role involves providing basic routine patient care activities in general care areas related to respiratory care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist. The assistant will ensure care is safe, effective, and age-appropriate, while also handling the cleaning, processing, and general maintenance of equipment. This position offers hands-on experience and will work around school curriculum.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in a Respiratory School Program
• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Cardiovascular Life Sup

Responsibilities

• Performs various basic routine diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures in the general care areas according to established standards, procedures, guidelines and policies.
• Recognizes and seeks assistance with abnormal findings and/or changes in patient status to other healthcare team members.
• Effectively communicates by participating in the exchange of information including documentation, handoff and works collaboratively with the healthcare team.
• Holds self-accountable and seeks out opportunities for continuous learning and feedback and is able to prioritize and apply effective time management.
• Processes equipment according to manufacturer and industry standards.
