One California Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will competently provide essential respiratory care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Your expertise is vital for critical respiratory interventions and patient well-being. Every day you will perform arterial punctures, continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, infection control, isolation procedures, mechanical ventilator operation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and medical gas administration. To be successful, you will possess advanced clinical skills in all aspects of respiratory care across age groups, meticulous attention to detail, a strong commitment to patient safety and infection control, and the ability to perform effectively in emergencies. PATIENT ASSESSMENT/REASSESSMENT Accurately performs respiratory patient assessment. Accurately performs appropriate skin assessment as required. Accurately performs appropriate assessment for treatment modality. Accurately performs the following routine procedures: ventilator management, aerosol therapy with or without medication; IPPB treatments; administration of aerosolized medications; perform humidity therapy; chest physiotherapy procedures; perform bedside spirometry, maintain artificial airways, administer medical gas and operate analyzers; patient/family education; administer pulse oximetry; performs MDI therapy and education; responds to emergency or 'stat' call throughout hospital; monitors vital signs. Assists physicians with procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube insertions, intubation, etc.
