About The Position
Hazel Park School District is seeking applicants for the position of Special Education Teacher - Resource Room (SM. SA, SE, SV) for the 2026-2027 School Year. The district serves approximately 3,100 students and is supported by a caring and professional staff. The Hazel Park community is proud and supportive of its schools, staff, and student population.
Requirements
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with any Special Ed Endorsement required
- Experience in providing instructional services to students who are certified ASD
- Experience in providing visual schedules, daily routines, and flexible behavioral interventions for students
- The ability to write, implement, and monitor IEP's
- Knowledge and/or understanding in consistent use of data to monitor student growth, inform instruction, and develop interventions
- Experience in differentiated instruction, Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports Systems, and individualized programming options for students
- Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum
- Superior communication skills in writing and speaking with all levels of management and staff
- Applicants must be able to show proof of a satisfactory criminal background check as defined by state standards

Responsibilities
- Provide differentiated instruction to students on caseload
- Evaluate and monitor student growth, and develop targeted interventions
- Maintain contact with parents of caseload students
- Complete caseload monthly Medicaid Billing
- Plan and participate in MET and IEPT meetings when appropriate
- Consult, communicate, and collaborate with other professionals regarding specific students, educational plans and programs
- Adapt materials and activities according to students needs
- Maintain records in accordance with professional standards, federal and state guidelines, and school district policy
- Prioritize and schedule tasks
- Manage inventory of equipment, assessments, and supplies
- CPI Training preferred
- Direct and supervisor the classroom paraprofessional
- Other duties as assigned by administrator
