About The Position

Saint Joseph Hospital, a 433-bed hospital founded in 1877, is seeking a Resource Interventional Technologist. This role involves assisting Interventional Cardiologists, Radiologists, and Vascular Surgeons in Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Interventional procedures. The technologist will perform duties as scrub and monitoring staff, ensure radiation safety, and support patient and family education. The position is part of a dedicated team focused on clinical excellence and compassionate care, contributing to the mission of CommonSpirit Health, a non-profit Catholic health system. The role requires competency in various imaging and device-based equipment, participation in Code STEMI and Code Stroke alerts, and documentation of intervention outcomes. On-call services are also required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology, upon hire
  • Medical Radiographer: KY, upon hire
  • Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT, upon hire or Registered Technologist Bone Densitometry, upon hire or Registered Technologist Computed Tomography, upon hire or Registered Technologist Cardio Interventional Radiography, upon hire or Registered Technologist Mammography, upon hire or Registered Technologist Magnetic Resonance Imaging, upon hire or Registered Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology, upon hire or Registered Technologist Quality Management, upon hire or Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy, upon hire or Registered Technologist Vascualr Inteventional Rad, upon hire or Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Assist Interventional Cardiologists, Radiologists, and Vascular Surgeons in Cardiac Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology/Endovascular with cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Perform duties as scrub and monitoring staff.
  • Provide radiation safety and general safety for patients, themselves, and other staff.
  • Provide patient and family education and support customer satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Work as part of the Cath Lab/IR/Endovascular team and support nursing functions.
  • Demonstrate and maintain all applicable competencies related to imaging and device based equipment used in these Interventional procedures areas.
  • Perform with competency in Code STEMI and Code Stroke alerts.
  • Document and evaluate the outcome of interventions.
  • Provide on call services as assigned.
  • Operate c-arm radiation equipment, provide radiation protection, and demonstrate competency for all procedural applications.
  • Prepare sterile fields without error or violation of integrity of aseptic technique.
  • Function as scrub assist and hemodynamic monitor.
  • Be knowledgeable regarding prep and use of all current devices in Cath Lab/IR/Endovascular inventory, including athrectomy, IABP, IVUS, Impella, CTO, DES, DCB, OCT, thrombectomy, and embolic coils.
  • Perform procedures including PCI, PTCA, and PTA, cerebral and visceral angiograms and interventions, stent placement, line placements, dialysis access maintenance, pacemaker and ICD implant.
  • Demonstrate rapid decision making, critical thinking, and clinical leadership skills.
  • Act as preceptor.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to STEMI, Stroke, respiratory and cardiac arrest.
  • Provide patient/family education related to procedure and cardiovascular disease risk factors.
  • Assist nursing staff in all aspects of patient care.
  • Report all deviations of standards to nurse leader.
