About The Position

Alliance for Workforce Development, Inc. (AFWD) is seeking a Part-Time Resource & Referral Coordinator for its Susanville Office. This role is crucial as the first point of contact for clients, setting the tone for their experience and connecting them with services, information, and hope. The position involves assisting clients in the computer lab with job search tools, online applications, resumes, and benefit portals, as well as promoting AFWD programs and maintaining knowledge of community resources. The coordinator will also be responsible for opening and closing the office, managing inventory, tracking service data, and handling phones and walk-ins with professionalism and care. This is a mission-driven role within a nonprofit organization that operates state and federally funded employment and training programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of clerical, or related, college level study, or two years of clerical and administrative assistant experience.
  • Must be able to travel in/out of town for training, meetings and to provide on-site program assistance.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and have a good driving record.
  • Must provide proof of automobile insurance which satisfies California Law.
  • Agree to a background check required to work with youth.
  • Provide “right to work” documentation upon appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and guide customers from all walks of life with professionalism and care.
  • Assist customers in the computer lab with navigating job search tools, online applications, resumes, benefit portals, and more.
  • Promote and explain AFWD programs, acting as an advocate for client referrals to workforce programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of community resources and serve as a referral partner.
  • Open and close the workforce center/lab.
  • Help maintain office supply inventory and ensure a clean, welcoming environment.
  • Track service data and keep accurate records.
  • Assist with other front desk tasks, including managing phones, walk-ins, data entry, and customer questions.
  • Provide excellent customer service in a professional manner.
  • Assist customers with career services and referrals to various services and agencies within the AJCC.
  • Provide information regarding the menu of services offered through the AJCC to job seekers, including resume writing, interview assistance, job readiness, and computer software workshops.
  • Submit job seekers’ applications, resumes, and other documentation to employers.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager regarding eligibility documentation and requirements.
  • Maintain filing systems, including integrated job-ready candidate pool and available employer databases.
  • Support staff in maintaining client-tracking forms and assist with follow-up activities.
  • Assist job seekers with completion of documentation into the states CalJOBS system.
  • Organize and prioritize job duties to meet objectives.
  • Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Assist with facilitation of client workshops.
  • Answer incoming calls in a positive and professional manner.
  • Provide input, initiative, and embrace changes that will improve systems and processes.
  • Participate in AJCC orientations providing information related to eligibility for WIOA programs and services under all funding titles.
  • Assist in conducting basic skills testing when appropriate.
  • Refer customers to other appropriate community resources.
  • Provide assistance to the Program Manager, Business Service Representatives, and/or other program department heads to meet contract obligations.
  • Provide general education of Nevada County social services and assist with the on-line application process on Nevada County’s C4 system.
