About The Position

The Welder I position is responsible for assisting and gaining increased knowledge in the joining, fabricating, and repairing of metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques and operating various welding equipment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
One (1) year relevant experience working with a variety of metals, including exotic metals

Nice To Haves

Professional welding certification
Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn shop geometry and trigonometry
Effective written and verbal communications skills with the ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Mathematical ability
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints

Responsibilities

Gains proficiency on welding equipment to fabricate and assemble materials based on job specifications
Assists and/or sets up welding equipment based on job specifications
Assists in maintaining welding equipment
Gains greater understanding of reading and interpreting blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements
Learns to check welds visually and dimensionally with precision measuring instruments for conformance to blueprints and specifications
Assists with the manufacture and maintenance of component parts and fixtures as required
Maintains specific tolerances and accurately performs dimensions.
Assists in checking parts using specified gages or furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained
Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
Adheres to all company policies and procedures; follows all applicable safety rules and precautions
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
