About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is one of the key delivery partners working with one of the most important Canadian airport projects. We are hiring a Resiliency Planning Specialist to join our growing team. This role will support the successful delivery of complex projects within the organization, ensuring that they are executed taking into consideration resiliency planning practices. The program requires a wealth of experience in managing large infrastructure projects, particularly in the context of international airport development or other similar complex programs.

Requirements

  • Recognized degree in related engineering, planning, or sustainability field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the environment, energy, or sustainable design sector, including at least 2 years delivering sustainability outcomes in the infrastructure sector; experience in large complex programs considered an asset.
  • Holistic understanding of sustainability and Net Zero, including decarbonization (Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions), climate risk assessment and management, and climate resiliency planning.
  • Demonstrable understanding of sustainability/ESG frameworks, climate accounting, management, and disclosure standards and guidance.
  • Strong technical capability across all project phases, with the ability to solve complex problems using data analytics to support solution identification.
  • Demonstrable experience in sustainable resource management, materials efficiency, and circular economy.
  • Knowledge of PIEVC protocol (or certification) and its application to infrastructure climate risk assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Incorporates resiliency needs into water programs, including stormwater, water conservation, and water quality.
  • Incorporates resiliency needs into waste programs, including terminal waste, outbuildings waste, construction waste and circular construction, and off-aircraft waste.
  • Incorporates resiliency needs into natural environment programs, including tree-planting, wildlife management, plant management, and species at risk.
  • Interfaces and accounts for carbon reduction and resiliency throughout the environmental management team.
  • Coordinates with Stakeholder Relations and Communications (SR&C) and external stakeholders on all areas of sustainability strategy.
  • Confirms that the approach to the relevant works is consistent with GTAA’s vision and strategy for a sustainable, carbon-positive, and environmentally friendly future.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the career development of GTAA staff.
