About The Position

Stantec's Northeast Transportation team is seeking a mid-level Resilience Planner with expertise in climate adaptation, hazard mitigation, sustainability, and climate action planning. You will lead and collaborate on a wide array of projects that are as technically challenging as they are impactful, creative, and fulfilling. You will contribute to a broad portfolio of resilience planning efforts including but not limited to climate change vulnerability assessments, climate adaptation plans, asset management studies, and infrastructure funding strategies. You will exchange ideas, best practices, and lessons learned with Stantec’s local and national experts in resilience planning, modeling, and design. You will help execute our resilience strategy in the Northeast market. Requirements

  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Adobe Creative Cloud and GIS experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience using publicly available climate data and models as the basis for climate change vulnerability assessments.
  • Experience preparing resilience plans and/or climate resilient corridor studies.
  • Masters Degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Sustainability Management, or related field.
  • 8-12 years of relevant planning and public policy experience in the Northeast.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of state and federal resilience focused funding programs/sources; grant writing experience desirable.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or Professional Planner (PP) preferred.
  • This role may require some field work.

Responsibilities

  • Help execute our resilience strategy in the Northeast market.
  • Contribute to forward-looking programs, policies, and plans.
  • Partner with climate and environmental scientists, GIS experts, funding specialists, and design professionals to develop action-oriented resilience plans for municipal and agency clients.
  • Lead tasks, teams, and projects across the region and nationally depending on your interests.
  • Enhance our resilience planning practice in the Northeast market.
  • Manage multiple planning projects in a time-sensitive, fast-paced team environment.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, planning documents, and visual materials (maps, graphics, presentations).
  • Guide the development and delivery of inclusive and equitable stakeholder engagement.
  • Support staff development and workload planning.
  • Motivate and inspire teams to work together to achieve project goals.
  • Organize the teams’ efforts to consistently deliver quality plans on schedule/budget.
  • Support proposal development and business development efforts.
  • Represent Stantec at industry events, client and agency meetings.
