About The Position

Northwestern Counseling & Support Services is seeking Residential Support Staff to join their dedicated teams in their 24/7 Residential Programs. In this role, you will support adults living with severe and persistent mental illness by helping create a safe, welcoming, and recovery-focused home environment where individuals can build independence, build life skills, and thrive.

Requirements

• Experience working in residential services, behavioral health, or with individuals experiencing mental health challenges
• Calm under pressure, organized, and communicates effectively
• Demonstrates empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting recovery and independence
• Holds a valid driver's license and has reliable transportation
• Flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends, overnights, or other assigned shifts
• Associate’s Degree; or equivalent combination of related education, training and experience such as relevant certificate from college or technical school.

Nice To Haves

• Some schedules include a rotation of asleep overnight shifts, depending on staffing needs and the level of support required at each residential site.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, respectful, and supportive home environment
• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
• Implement individualized, person-centered support plans
• Encourage community involvement, recreational activities, and social connections
• Administer medications and maintain accurate documentation
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with supervisors, clinicians, and fellow team members
• Transport residents to appointments and community activities using your personal vehicle
